Abstract

One of the topics that holds the greatest interest for both specialists and the general public is the Independence of Mexico. This historic milestone has generated as much ink as it did bloodshed in its time, having inspired countless books, articles, films, series, and telenovelas. Moreover, September 16th is a day of national celebration; year after year, many Mexicans take to the streets to celebrate the independence of a Mexican nation-state that did not yet exist in 1810, while others are unfamiliar with the names of their national heroes, and the majority possess only a basic understanding of the subject.
