Abstract

To manage the coordinated actions of various actors involved in the innovation process and measuring how they impact the development of networks of local actors –could be termed “innovative regions” –is a pressing challenge. The aim of this paper is to analyze on the essence of innovation hosted in local manufacturing companies in the state of Guanajuato, from five dimensions: (a) organization, systems and tools, (b) resources for innovation, (c) management of technology, (d) design and (e) product development. Furthermore, to propose a classification of networks of local actors involved in innovation, in order to glimpse a first approximation of the determinants of territorial development through regional innovation systems. The methodology is developed based on the constructivist paradigm; it was based methodologically on the «Reconstruction of the Whole», based on the epistemological concept of totality, with a quantitative methodological approach, using correlation analysis. Work as part of a holistic research on regional innovation systems and its economic impact on local manufacturing SMES in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico.
