The networks of productive innovation. A learning space within the framework of a conception of endogenous development

Abstract

The networks of productive innovation are spaces that enable the development of local capacities in reference to a productive vocation that is identified as susceptible to be improved to achieve what is understood as an endogenous growth process. In this article, the role of productive innovation networks as spaces of social learning is systematically explored from a perspective of endogenous development. To do so, an evaluation of the trajectory of productive innovation networks is presented to show the potential and limitations of this strategy for the construction of an integral development. The work methodology is the revision of the historical evolution of the notions of innovation networks in the case of Venezuela and formulate the learning model that corresponds to these notions to contrast it with the processes that involve a conception of endogenous development and its notion of social learning elaborated with the participation of the author. The result of the research reveals that productive innovation networks, although with the possibility of doing so, have not reached the conditions to establish themselves as a consolidated social learning tool that allows to overcome instrumental learning processes as the only ones on which networks rest of innovation. It concludes by showing that the networks of productive innovation could contribute substantially in the deployment of forms of citizen and educational innovation for a sustainable endogenous development, by allowing the dialogue of the knowledge and innovation networks beyond the value chain associated with the item that it has been identified as a potential based on an eco-systemic vision that is proposed for the evaluation of a sustainable society.
