The article analyzes La Alborada (1874-1875), a magazine of the Scientific-Literary Society of Campeche, as a space for geographical and scientific practice. The hypothesis holds that the publications reflected youth interest in understanding and solving territorial problems from a scientific perspective. The methodology is based on the social history of science, examining seven writings on water resources, territory, and climate. The results show contributions in three areas: 1) romantic descriptions of the landscape (Uxmal), 2) positive measurement experiments (gravity and climatology) and 3) applied studies on drinking water and urban drainage. The article highlights the importance of regional scientific associations, which linked academic knowledge with public needs and sought to legitimize science as an instrument of social progress.
