Keywords:

This article examines the visual narratives produced by Alarma! magazine
around the actions of students and the State during the 1968 student movement.
The magazine under study was a weekly news publication known for
its sensationalist imagery and its frequent exploitation of crime reporting in relation to the events, most of which took place in Mexico City. The issues
addressed in this paper include the oppositional framing of students and the
State through the exaltation of war, the legitimization of police actions, and
the psychologization of student demonstrations in the eyes of public opinion.
