This text reflects on the role of the press as a source for the study of student mobilizations and as an actor in the generation of perception about them. This is based on the study of the student conflict that took place at the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí (UASLP) from May to September 1986 through the articles of El Heraldo de San Luis Potosí. The conclusions allow us to emphasize the importance of the newspaper as a source of study of this mobilization. However, also as an actor that established an "independent" position on the conflict, but that framed what happened in the institution to turn it into a point of criticism towards the government authorities.
