Abstract

Mario Levrero wrote 126 articles between 1996 and 2000 for the magazine of Montevideo Posdata, these articles, it was compilated with the title Irrupciones. The autobiographical appearance of this corpus has an intellectual and emotional connection with Apuntes bonaerenses, Diario de una canalla, and El discurso vacío, and within this glimpses, in addition, to “Diario de la beca”, the imposing preamble to La novela luminosa. In this textual production, the category of the city has a relevance of first order, as it happens in Trilogía involuntaria. The objective of this essay is to reconstruct the process through which that gaze at Montevideo crystallized in Irrupciones and “Diario de la Beca” found its editorial and historical possibility.
