The Coordinator of University Students in Struggle (CUL) of Michoacán: an autonomous, democratic and mass organization (1982-2023)

Abstract

The primary aim of this article is to elucidate the distinctiveness of the orga­nizational project of the Coordinator of University Students in Struggle (CUL) and its relevance in the context of regional class struggle spanning from 1982 to 2023. To accomplish this, the article characterizes key aspects, including organizational functioning, action program, confrontation strategies, achieve­ments, and various stages of its historical development. This analysis relies on archival documentary sources, oral testimonies from leaders representing different stages of CUL's evolution, and the organization's documentation pro­duced through its press and propaganda committees.
