Abstract

The objective of this article is to explain the origin of the «movimiento alterado». Based on a case study, it analyzes the reconfiguration of business in the music industry, examining the tensions, internal rearrangements, and practices of those involved in the industry. Interviews were conducted with key actors in the Movimiento Alterado narcocorrido production, including producers, managers, musicians, composers, sales programmers, production house owners, recording studio owners, and radio programmers. Access to direct sources allows for questioning generic definitions regarding the origins of the movimiento alterado. Additionally, we aim to understand the perspective and experiences of music industry agents involved in the regional Mexican music scene.
