Abstract

The book Historia básica de Bucaramanga. Cuatro siglos de un poblamiento, 1622-2022, published by the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS), emerged, in the first instance, as part of the celebration of the fourth centenary of the founding of the city of Bucaramanga and, secondly, as a contribution to the regional bibliography. The text attempts to bring together some aspects of the life of the city from a contemporary historiographical perspective and was directed by the professor emeritus of the UIS, ex-director of the General Archive of the Nation, current president of the Santandereana and Colombian Academies of History, Dr. Armando Martínez Garnica, in collaboration with graduates of the School of History of the same university, including Álvaro Acevedo Tarazona, Jerson Fidel Jaimes Rodríguez, Diana Carolina Sevilla Torres, Guillermo Vargas Caballero, Gabriel Samacá Alonso and Leonardo Caballero Piza.
