Abstract

This research analyses the positions of the Potosina press in relation to mining developed in the San Luis Potosi highlands at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. Consequently, preference is given to the sources of the Hemerograph as documentary base, which have been little explored in the work related to mining in the Potosino territory. The central idea of the text is that mining has led to various debates in local newspapers, as well as the desire of writers to teach and inform the public about this type of economic activity. As a methodology, the journalistic writings are contrasted with works that give an a account of the mining reality in the place and period studied.
