Marriage, one of the institutions enshrined and regulated in the civil codes of the states of the Mexican Republic, has not remained static; on the contrary, it has evolved over the years and has gradually adapted to various political, geographical, economic, and social circumstances. The book under consideration here, Marriage and Divorce in Sinaloa: Continuities and Ruptures, 1859–1940, recounts the history of these processes of change and continuity in the state of Sinaloa.
