CHILD ABUSE IN FAMILY SPACES IN MEXICO: PATRIARCHAL DISCOURSES AS A FORM OF JUSTIFICATION.

Abstract

This article delves into the physical abuse experienced by minors in family contexts in Mexico, with the aim of revealing and analyzing the root of the discourses that justify such actions. Taking into consideration that during the period studied there was an increase in violence in family spaces, thus affecting this social group. To do so, a qualitative approach was used that sought, through narrative methodology, the recovery of discourses in news articles that covered the phenomenon, whose decision responded to the difficulties of immersion in private and violent environments, as well as the importance of submitting information in media that reflect social realities and subjecting it to scientific analysis. The main results identify the configuration of the patriarchal device as an instrument of subordination, control, punishment and correction, supported by associated categories such as adult-centrism in terms of asymmetrical relationships, and objectification, represented in exposure and disposal. Therefore, as part of the conclusions, the reflection is made on the level of social reality, where these actions are normalized as part of everyday life, and the role of the family, the community and the State is questioned.
