Student dropout at the Faculty of Informatics Mazatlán (FIMAZ) has become an issue influenced by various factors, including learning problems, lack of interest, and economic aspects. Students with low academic performance, especially those struggling with fundamental subjects such as mathematics, programming, and databases, are the leading candidates to drop out. In this regard, FIMAZ, through the Autonomous University of Sinaloa, has implemented the Institutional Tutoring Program (PIT), which plays a crucial role in the support and integral development of students, promoting a university culture based on respect, collaboration, and commitment to academic excellence. The results indicate that students participating in the PIT are less likely to drop out. Therefore, the leading causes affecting student dropout were analyzed.
