Abstract

Background. The infrastructure of a locality represents the backbone on which the lives of the people who coexist in said territorial space revolve, it constitutes the improvement of population well-being and the economy. Aim. The main objective of this research is to identify the infrastructure factors that influence the population's quality of life and business development. The purpose of this study is to review the literature that aims to answer the research question: What factors of local infrastructure influence the quality of life of the population and the business development of a certain region? Furthermore, this research focuses on goal number 9 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): develop resilient infrastructures, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and foster innovation. Methodology. A literature review was carried out with an exploratory qualitative approach, articles in English and Spanish were searched and at least twenty articles from reliable sources were reviewed. The selection of quality articles, mainly published in recent years, was prioritized to ensure the relevance of the results. Results. Common points were identified in the reviewed literature, which allowed us to recognize those aspects that are considered key for the analysis in question. From this convergence, it was decided that there are eight key infrastructure factors that significantly influence the quality of life and , in turn, positively impact business development: transportation, basic/urban services, telecommunications, sustainability/energy, finance/economics, entertainment/sports, education/social and health services that manage to represent these elements. Conclusions. It is concluded that the eight factors significantly influence the population's quality of life and generate a notable impact on business development. Likewise, it was confirmed that there is a significant relationship between quality of life and business development.
