Stay at home! Adequate housing at the crossroads of COVID-19. Case study Mexico and Brazil

The Global Pandemic Covid-19, exposed worldwide, the differences in housing capacities to face a health crisis, but also evidenced the economic inequalities in Latin American countries in their housing components. The idea of this work is to analyze with the comparative use between Mexico and Brazil, regions with the highest number of infected people and deaths, the recommendation to contain and avoid more contagions: Stay at home!
Through the interpretation of mixed results, on the policy of home confinement. This measure showed the varied forms of habitation and residential conditions of the population in the absence of housing or in segregation and overcrowding. It is concluded that the post-pandemic effect will increase the number of people looking for a new home, housing backlog and increase socioeconomic polarization in the cities of these countries.
