Migration is conceived as a global phenomenon, but it has also been understood as the result of a problem, especially in underdeveloped countries, in contexts of violence, insecurity, and lack of basic subsistence conditions. In this paper, the objective is to provide an explanation of forced migration based on a case study, and resorting to the explanatory category called exclusion, a concept that arises to name those conditions of profound social inequality that are exacerbated with the advent of neoliberalism, a model contrary to development and more in favor of capital and markets. For such purposes, the document is organized, first by contextualizing migration; then, the topic of neoliberalism is addressed, which will serve to better understand the emergence and definition of the concept of exclusion; next, a characterization of the consequences brought about by its
application is carried out, in such a way that it was configured from the international, national and local levels, hence also trying to harmonize the different levels until reaching the case study. Almost to conclude, the theoretical conception of exclusion and the different investigations that have preceded the present one are discussed. To conclude, a section of final reflections is opened.
