El nacionalismo en la era de la información. Comunidades imaginadas a través de las nuevas tecnologías. El caso de Estados Unidos durante el ascenso de Donald Trump
Keywords:
Nacionalismo, Redes Sociales, Liberalismo, Derechos HumanosAbstract
The purpose of this article is to analyze the resurgence of nationalist ideologies and movements in the liberal occident. The principal idea proposed is that the rise of the new nationalisms is related at least with three structural aspects that have impacted the world in the 21st century: the neoliberal capitalist crisis, the emergence of a multipolar global order, and the international migration. We also seek to understand the role played by the new internet media in the configuration of imagined communities, which is giving a new sense of belonging to the people who interact in the network. The objective is to understand how the interaction and flow of information in the social networks of the internet can become a challenge for democratic societies, that are framed in the ideal of human rights. All the evidence from this investigation indicates that the virtual platforms, besides agglutinating and giving strength to common values among users, at the same time, they serve as the basis for organization of collective actions that impact on political institutions.
