Parásitos metazoarios asociados a especies del género Centropomus del Océano Pacífico: una revisión de los últimos 20 años

Resumen

El presente trabajo es una revisión de los parásitos helmintos reportados en peces del género Centropomus, conocidos como róbalos, del Océano Pacífico durante los últimos 20 años. Los róbalos son peces de importancia económica y comercial en diversas regiones del mundo. En el Océano Pacífico se pueden encontrar seis especies: Centropomus armatus, C. medius, C. nigrescens, C. robalito, C. unionensis y C. viridis. Al ser especies de importancia, es necesario conocer su fauna parasitaria, lo que contribuye a generar información sobre aspectos ecológicos, pero también sobre sanidad e inocuidad, previniendo posibles enfermedades zoonóticas. A lo largo de los últimos 20 años se han realizado investigaciones al respecto en las que se reportan 4 taxones: Digenea, Monogenea, Acanthocephala y Nematoda, siendo los primeros dos los más reportados. La mayoría de estas investigaciones han sido realizadas en México; sin embargo, este trabajo documenta que aún existe una gran falta de información al respecto, ya que para el caso de C. medius y C. unionensis no existe ningún registro concreto de su fauna parasitaria. Por ello, se recomienda realizar investigaciones para generar información al respecto y contribuir a comprender mejor las relaciones ecológicas entre parásitos y sus hospederos.
