Mobile Applications to Promote the Prevention of Sexually Transmited Infeccions: A Rapid Literature Review

Introduction: Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) represent a critical public health challenge, with a significant burden in Latin America. Faced with the barriers of traditional educational methods, mobile applications (Apps) and telenursing emerge as innovative tools to promote self-care and prevention in young adults. Objective: Analyze the international scientific evidence, published between 2015 and 2025, on validated, evaluated and implemented mobile applications for the prevention of STIs in adolescents. Methodology: Rapid review of the literature following the PICOT-D format. Databases such as PubMed, Scielo and Web of Science were consulted, including studies in four languages. Methodological quality was evaluated using the Cochrane tool. Results: Of 18 initial publications, 3 met the inclusion criteria. 85.6% of the related studies presented low risk of bias. The Apps (from EE.UU, Hong Kong and Brazil showed high levels of satisfaction (91.92%). Interventions that operate without an Internet connection, integral educational sections and educational material were identified, which demonstrated effectiveness in the incidence of chlamydia and pelvic inflammatory disease. Conclusion: Mobile applications are tools that complement traditional education, in the face of access barriers and stigma, thus improving the accessibility of information. Nursing participation in its design ensures reliable and adapted content, promoting user empowerment in their self-care. It is essential to guarantee its sustainability, effectiveness and long-term monitoring
