Author Guidelines and Manuscript Submission Standards

These guidelines establish the editorial, bibliographic, technical, and formatting requirements that manuscripts submitted for consideration to the Revista Investigación en Ciencias Administrativas UAS must meet.

Important: Compliance with these standards is mandatory and constitutes a prerequisite for the manuscript to be admitted to the editorial evaluation process and, where applicable, sent for peer review.

1. MANDATORY SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

1.1 ORCID Identifier

All authors must have an active and up-to-date ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID).

The ORCID identifier must be linked to each author's profile on the journal's OJS platform. Manuscripts omitting this information will not be processed.

Authors who do not yet have an ORCID identifier must register in advance, free of charge, on the official platform: Register or create an ORCID

Once registered, each author must provide their ORCID iD and verify that it is correctly linked and updated in their OJS platform profile.

1.2 Institutional Affiliation or Professional Background

The affiliation information must clearly identify the institution, organization, or professional background of each author at the time the manuscript is submitted.

When an author belongs to an academic, scientific, research, governmental, business, social, or other type of institution or organization, the affiliation should preferably be registered using the following structure:

1. Institution or organization.
2. Department, Faculty, Academic Unit, Department, Area, Center, or other administrative unit, when applicable.
3. City and country.

Example of Academic Affiliation

Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa, Facultad de Contaduría y Administración, Culiacán, Mexico.

Example of Government Affiliation

Government of the State of Sinaloa, Secretariat of Economy, Culiacán, Mexico.

Example of Business Affiliation

ABC Company, Administration and Finance Department, Culiacán, Mexico.

Authors Without Institutional Affiliation

Authors who do not belong to an academic, scientific, governmental, business institution, or formal organization may participate as independent authors.

In these cases, designations such as the following may be used:

• Independent Researcher, Culiacán, Mexico.
• Independent Professional, Culiacán, Mexico.

Important: A fictitious institution or an academic affiliation that does not correspond to the author's actual situation must not be used.

The affiliation or professional background information registered on the OJS platform must exactly match the information presented in the manuscript.

1.3 Author Information

The following information must be provided for each author:

• Full name.
• ORCID identifier.
• Institutional affiliation or professional background.
• Email address, preferably institutional when available.
• Identification of the corresponding author.

The order in which authors appear on the OJS platform must match the order established in the manuscript.

1.4 Bilingual Metadata

It is mandatory to register the following metadata on the OJS platform, both in Spanish and English:

• Title.
• Abstract.
• Keywords.

This requirement applies regardless of the language in which the manuscript is written.

1.5 Official Manuscript Submission Template

The Revista Investigación en Ciencias Administrativas UAS will provide authors with an official template for preparing and submitting manuscripts.

Use of the official template is mandatory for all manuscripts submitted for editorial consideration.

Authors must prepare their manuscript directly using the template, respecting the structure, styles, typography, margins, numbering, tables, figures, and other criteria established by the journal.

The official template will be available for download on the OJS platform, under the section corresponding to the Author Guidelines.

A manuscript that does not use the official template or that contains substantial modifications to the established format may be returned to the authors for correction.

2. CONTRIBUTION CATEGORIES

2.1 Scientific Article

The scientific article must present the results of original research, theoretically and methodologically supported, that contributes relevant knowledge to the field of administrative sciences.

The manuscript must be original, unpublished, methodologically sound, and capable of being reproduced or contrasted, according to the nature of the research.

Maximum length: 15 pages.

2.2 Structure of the Scientific Article

1. Title in Spanish.
2. Title in English.
3. Full names of the authors.
4. ORCID of each author.
5. Institutional affiliation or professional background.
6. Email address of the corresponding author.
7. Abstract in Spanish.
8. Abstract in English.
9. Keywords in Spanish.
10. Keywords in English.
11. Introduction.
12. Materials and Methods.
13. Results.
14. Discussion.
15. Conclusions.
16. Cited Literature or References.
17. Tables and figures, when applicable.

2.3 Title

The title must be clear, specific, concise, and representative of the manuscript's content. It must be presented in Spanish and English.

2.4 Abstract

The abstract must have a maximum length of 200 words and present the essential elements of the research in a concise manner.

It is recommended that it include:

• Research context or problem.
• Objective.
• Methodology.
• Main results.
• Conclusion or main contribution.

The Abstract must faithfully correspond to the content of the Spanish abstract.

2.5 Keywords

A maximum of five keywords must be included, selected according to their relevance and ability to represent the main concepts of the manuscript.

2.6 Introduction

The introduction must present:

• Contextualization of the problem.
• Relevant background.
• Rationale for the study.
• State of knowledge.
• Research problem or gap.
• Research question or hypothesis, when applicable.
• Research objective.

The objective must be explicitly stated at the end of the introduction.

2.7 Materials and Methods

The procedure used to conduct the research must be described with sufficient clarity and precision.

• Research approach and design.
• Population and sample or units of analysis.
• Data collection techniques and instruments.
• Procedure.
• Variables or categories of analysis.
• Data processing and analysis methods.
• Ethical considerations, when applicable.

2.8 Results

The results must be presented objectively, systematically, and coherently with the objectives and methodology proposed.

2.9 Discussion

The discussion must interpret the main findings and contrast them with previous research and theoretical contributions.

2.10 Conclusions

The conclusions must derive directly from the results obtained and respond to the objective established in the research.

2.11 Cited Literature / References

All sources cited in the text must appear in the final reference list, and all references included must be cited within the manuscript.

3. TEXT FORMAT AND TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

3.1 Typography and General Formatting

• Font: Times New Roman.
• Size: 12 points.
• Line spacing: 1.5.
• Alignment: Justified.
• Left margin: 3.5 cm.
• Right margin: 2.5 cm.
• Top margin: 3 cm.
• Bottom margin: 3 cm.

3.2 Page and Line Numbering

Pages must be numbered consecutively in the lower right margin.

All manuscript lines must have continuous numbering from the first to the last page to facilitate the evaluation process.

3.3 Writing Numbers

Numbers from zero to nine must be written out in words, except when accompanied by a unit of measurement, when they form part of a statistical expression, refer to ages, dates, percentages, monetary amounts, or appear in tables, figures, or formulas.

Starting with the number 10, Arabic numerals must be used, except when APA guidelines or the characteristics of the context require otherwise.

3.4 Scientific Names

Scientific names must be written in italics and presented in full the first time they are mentioned.

Example: Crassostrea virginica; subsequently, C. virginica.

4. TABLES, FIGURES, AND GRAPHIC ELEMENTS

Tables and figures must be directly related to the content of the manuscript and must be mentioned previously in the text.

4.1 Tables

• Identify them as Table I, Table II, Table III, etc.
• Use Roman numerals.
• Present them preferably in black and white.
• Include a clear and descriptive title.
• Maintain a simple and readable structure.
• Include notes and sources when necessary.

4.2 Figures

• Identify them as Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3, etc.
• Use Arabic numerals.
• Present them in black and white or color.
• Have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.
• Use an internal font size between 9 and 12 points.
• Include a title, legend, and source when applicable.

Tables and figures must be integrated or embedded within the body of the manuscript, in the appropriate location.

5. CITATION AND BIBLIOGRAPHIC REFERENCE STANDARDS

The Revista Investigación en Ciencias Administrativas UAS uses the American Psychological Association (APA), 7th edition, guidelines as its citation and bibliographic reference system.

5.1 In-Text Citations

Citations must follow the author-date system established by the 7th edition of APA.

5.2 Narrative Citations

García (2024) states that digital transformation constitutes a relevant factor for business competitiveness.

5.3 Parenthetical Citations

5.4 Direct Quotations

Direct quotations must include the author, year, and page or paragraph number, as applicable.

(García, 2024, p. 35).

5.5 Correspondence Between Citations and References

There must be complete and exact correspondence between the citations included in the text and the final reference list.

• Every cited source must appear in the references.
• No reference should be included if it has not been cited in the text.
• Authors and years must match.
• DOI, URLs, titles, volume, issue, and pages must be verified.
• References must be presented according to the 7th edition of APA.

Important: Failure to comply with this requirement may result in the manuscript being returned for correction and, when the violation is repeated or substantial, in editorial rejection.

6. AUTHORS' RESPONSIBILITY

Responsibility for compliance with these guidelines rests with the authors.

Before submitting, authors must verify that:

• The manuscript complies with the established length.
• All authors have a registered and up-to-date ORCID.
• Author information matches between the manuscript and OJS.
• The title, abstract, and keywords have been registered in Spanish and English.
• The journal's official template has been used.
• The general formatting complies with the established specifications.
• Tables and figures meet the technical requirements.
• All citations have their corresponding reference.
• All references have been cited in the text.
• References comply with the 7th edition of APA.

7. TECHNICAL REVIEW AND MANUSCRIPT ADMISSION

Once the manuscript is received, the editorial team will conduct an initial technical review to verify compliance with the established requirements.

Manuscripts that do not comply with the guidelines may be returned to the authors for correction before continuing with the editorial process.

Compliance with the technical requirements does not guarantee manuscript acceptance. The editorial decision will be subject to criteria including relevance, scientific quality, originality, methodological rigor, relevance of the results, and the outcome of the peer-review process.

8. FINAL PROVISION

Submission of a manuscript to the Revista Investigación en Ciencias Administrativas UAS implies that the authors are aware of, accept, and undertake to comply with these guidelines.

The journal reserves the right to update these standards whenever necessary to strengthen its editorial processes, improve the quality of publications, and maintain current academic and scientific standards.
