International Journal of Information Science and Technological Applications – UAS IJISTA

The International Journal of Information Science and Technological Applications – UAS IJISTA is an open-access, peer-reviewed international scientific journal published by the Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa (UAS). The publication arose as an institutional academic initiative aimed at strengthening the dissemination, exchange, and transfer of scientific and technological knowledge in the areas of Information Science, Computer Science, Engineering and Systems, and Technological Applications, with the purpose of contributing to the development of innovative solutions to the challenges posed by contemporary society.

History of the Journal

IJISTA was conceived in October 2024 by the Research Group “Virtual Reality and Robotics” at the Faculty of Computer Science in Culiacán, Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa, in response to the institutional need for a specialized academic space for disseminating high-quality research in the field of Information Science and Technological Applications.

The journal published its first issue in May 2025 (Volume I, Number I), and established its regular publication schedule with the second issue in November 2025 (Volume I, Number II). Since its founding, IJISTA has maintained a firm commitment to academic excellence, scientific integrity, and the open dissemination of knowledge, under the editorial direction of Xiomara Penélope Zaldívar Colado, PhD.

The journal is a biannual, multidisciplinary scientific publication that welcomes original and unpublished contributions derived from scientific research, technological developments, and specialized studies of national and international relevance. Its editorial process is based on double-blind peer review, a mechanism that guarantees the quality, objectivity, and academic rigor of the works accepted for publication.

The journal operates under a non-profit academic publishing model and adheres to the philosophy of immediate, permanent, and free open access, a principle that promotes the democratization of knowledge and its appropriation by the scientific community and society at large. IJISTA is listed in the Journal Catalog managed by the General Directorate of Libraries of the Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa, a catalog promoted at the initiative of Joel Cuadras Urías, PhD, Director General of Libraries, during the administration of Jesús Madueña Molina, PhD, as Rector of the Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa.

Main Objective

To disseminate cutting-edge scientific and technological advances that contribute to the development of Information Science and Technological Applications, promoting the generation, validation, and transfer of knowledge through the publication of original, methodologically rigorous, and socially relevant research. Likewise, the journal seeks to foster collaboration among researchers, academics, graduate students, and industry professionals, with a view to strengthening national and international research networks that promote scientific and technological innovation.

Mission

To contribute to the dissemination of knowledge generated by students, academics, researchers and industry professionals in the areas of Information Science, Computer Science, Engineering and Systems, making available to society and the scientific community results that promote critical reflection and the advancement of disciplinary knowledge.

To consolidate itself as a leading publication at the national and international level in the areas of Information Science, Computer Science, Engineering and Systems, distinguishing itself by its high standards of editorial quality, its academic prestige and the recognition granted to it by the scientific community.

Types of Contributions

The journal accepts five types of submissions:

  • Original Articles: These must be original and unpublished, not previously published, and not under simultaneous review by another publication. They will be peer-reviewed by at least two specialized reviewers.
  • Doctoral Thesis Report: The thesis defense must have taken place prior to submission and be recent. The report will be subject to peer review.
  • Review Article: This presents the results of primary and bibliographic research aimed at reporting on advances in computer science, as well as recurring problems, methods, and new trends. It must contain a minimum of 30 bibliographic references.
  • Book Review: This offers a critical analysis of recent works relevant to the field of computer science that contribute thematic, methodological, empirical, or analytical insights. The reviewed works must not be more than three years old.
  • Invited Articles: These are requested directly by the editor-in-chief and reviewed by at least two editors of the journal. They integrate both original results and state-of-the-art analyses, with the purpose of expanding the scientific impact of the publication and contributing to its academic visibility.

IJISTA recognizes that scientific knowledge is a fundamental public good for the development of societies. Consequently, all published content is available in open access, allowing its consultation, reading, downloading, and use without economic restrictions for authors or readers.

The journal promotes the principles of transparency, editorial ethics, scientific integrity, and social responsibility, committing to fostering open, inclusive science aimed at generating impact in both the academic and social spheres.

  • Article Submission Deadline: Article submissions are accepted year-round. To be published in the next issue (November 2026), you must submit your article by April 30, 2026
  • Article Review Period: From May 01 to 15, 2026
  • Feedback on Accepted/Rejected Articles: From may 10 to 16, 2026
  • Article sent with comments addressed: June 05 2026
