Characteristics of the labor supply of a region that influence business development: literature review

Background. Business development in any region is directly linked to the characteristics of the job offer. Staff attraction, retention, motivation and disengagement are important factors that impact the ability of companies to grow and achieve success. Objective. The objective of this study is to identify and analyze the main characteristics of the job offer that affect and influence business development, based on a literature review. Methods. For the following study, a qualitative analysis methodology was used, carrying out a literature review. Results. The main results indicate that various authors agree that the image of the brand as an employer (employer branding) is the key factor to attract staff. On the other hand, the most important factor to retain staff is compensation policies (salary and security). Regarding employee motivation, the opportunity for professional development of employees stands out. In addition, a consensus is observed among the authors on the need for companies to constantly work to improve the organizational climate and avoid cumbersome schedules for employees. Conclusions. In conclusion, this study has shown that job supply is a determining factor in business development in any region
