Abstract

This book presents silenced processes, invisibilized identities, and historical trajectories that, from the margins of the official narrative, have been fundamental to the social, political, and cultural configuration of the state of Sinaloa. *Women of Sinaloa: Social Identities in Construction*, coordinated by Ana Luz Ruelas and Silvia Evelyn Ward Bringas, is a collaborative work that aims to recover, analyze, and recognize the diverse experiences of women from a critical and intersectional perspective. From the title itself, the authors announce their concern with exploring how women from Sinaloa construct, contest, and redefine their social identities in different historical, geographical, and symbolic contexts. The book does not seek to offer a unified image of "the Sinaloan woman", but rather to highlight the plurality, contradiction and richness of the ways in which gender, class, ethnicity, motherhood and work are experienced, in this territory interwoven by particular dynamics such as drug trafficking, political authoritarianism and structural violence.
