This theoretical treatise is presented in three steps. First, this paper provides an overview of knowledge management in community of practice (CoP). Then, we review theoretical and empirical works to determine the core components of communities of practice and virtual communities of practice. Finally, virtual communities in social neetworks are discussed after the CoP has been conceptualized, allowing conclusions to be drawn about the examination
