Keywords:
Fatherhood, Masculinity, Men, AffectionAbstract
The objective of this work is to analyze the emotional relationships of some men from Culiacán, Sinaloa who are fathers, from three different generations, to know what contact they have with their sons and daughters and how they express their affection. For this purpose, 16 interviews were made with parents of three age groups, originally from Culiacán and/or residing most of their lives in the city, who cohabit with their partner and sons and daughters, with economic independence. In the qualitative study that was carried out from the perspective of gender studies of men and masculinities, it was observed that there are no significant changes that go from the oldest generation to the current one, although there is more closeness of the fathers of middle-aged with their sons and daughters. It is concluded that, even though the men did not receive affection from their own parents, they try to learn to be affectionate with their sons and daughters; that the demonstration of affection depends on the age and gender of the sons and daughters, and; that men of different age groups express affection in a similar way.
