The work experience of graduates from a degree programme is a highly valuable asset for students, as it is fundamental for them to hear directly from former students about the aspects they consider important for preparing and securing good jobs in the industry. This document presents the key points described by graduates of a Software Engineering degree programme for obtaining their first jobs or achieving promotions. The graduates focus on aspects such as technical preparation, while also highlighting the development of soft skills like proficiency in English and leadership to manage work teams. From very diverse perspectives and experiences, they expressed the various specialisation paths that can be taken, as well as professional development in both Mexican and international companies.
