Perspective on the determinants of competitive advantage in organizations

Currently, organizations focus on creating symbolic value that allows them to compete sustainably, standing out through a key differentiator. However, this development requires an understanding of what competitiveness is and how it is implemented within organizations. Additionally, it is essential to understand how competitive advantage is generated and recognize that this concept is decisive for business success in an increasingly complex and globalized environment. This essay, based on a documentary study, is structured into three parts. The first describes the concept of competitive advantage and its relationship to organizations as well as at a national level, analyzed from various theoretical perspectives. The second examines the groups of factors that influence the attainment of competitive advantage, namely, internal and external factors. Finally, it explores how these factors interact with one another and how they contribute to generating a substantial impact on the organization.
