Trends in the teaching-learning of Biology

Science education is fundamental for developing individuals who understand the construction of knowledge. The objective of this study was to identify and characterize trends in research problems and methodologies related to the teaching and learning process of biology. Bibliometrics was used to analyze references from the Web of Science (WoS) database, according to the bibliometric indicators proposed by the Bibliometrix package. The main trend found was a shift from "what to teach" to "how to teach." It is concluded that educational strategies should focus on active learning methods.
