Analysis and quantification of temperature trends by different methods in the central region of Sinaloa, Mexico
Keywords:
Climate change, temperature trends, Sinaloa, quantifying methodsAbstract
Temperature annual trends have been widely used to describe the impact of climate change. Based on daily temperature data of six stations from central Sinaloa, Mexico, we calculated annual temperature means, number of days within temperature ranges, winter and summer seasons and first and fourth quarter means of the estimated temperature variables. Temperature variation among stations was quantified as well as their temporal trends with the Mann-Kendal method. Multivariate analyses were performed for the quarter data sets. Increasing trends were detected for mean temperatures, number of days with elevated temperatures summer days and decreasing trends were detected for days with low temperatures and winter days. Multivariate analyses depicted the homogenization of urban stations. Frequencies of days within temperature ranges and seasonality were important in the description of temperature trends and variation.
