Motivation as a key factor in learning in the bachelor of Education Program

Abstract

This research article addresses a fundamental pillar in the teaching-learning process, as it directly influences students' interest, dedication, and perseverance during their education. Therefore, the objective of this study is to analyze motivation as a key factor in the learning of students enrolled in the Bachelor of Education program, identifying its main determinants and proposing recommendations to strengthen it in the university context. This was done using quantitative methodology and a digital survey (forms) administered to a sample of 37 students. The instrument includes questions classified into categories of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, evaluating each question on a scale of adequate, fair, and need help. In addition, a documentary review was carried out based on official sources from the Ministry of Public Education, previous research, and academic databases such as Redalyc, Dialnet, and Google Scholar. Among the most relevant results, it was identified that most students have an adequate level of intrinsic motivation, related to their interest in learning and improving themselves, while extrinsic motivation is influenced by factors such as external recognition and grades, which was the most affected variable. It was concluded that, in order to strengthen motivation, it is necessary to implement pedagogical strategies focused on personal development and the valuation of effort, which significantly improves university learning.
