History of the Journal

BUIYYA TIERRA Scientific Journal was established in 2024 through the collaboration of researchers from various Academic Units of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa, Northern Regional Unit, as well as scholars from the University of Sonora and the Autonomous University of Baja California, together with members of several Academic Bodies. Its creation aimed to strengthen the dissemination of scientific research and to consolidate a specialized editorial space devoted to the social sciences and humanities.

From its inception, the journal was conceived as a digital Diamond Open Access publication supported by the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, employing a double-blind peer review process and maintaining a semiannual publication frequency. Its inaugural issue was officially released in June 2024, becoming a new platform for the dissemination of research findings produced in Mexico and Latin America.

The establishment of BUIYYA TIERRA responded to the need to expand scholarly communication channels in northwestern Mexico and to strengthen academic collaboration among national and international researchers.
