Abstract

It is an honor to present Volume 6, number 11, of Revista Escripta, a publication dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of academic research in the field of History. Since its inception, our journal has established itself as a reference forum for researchers, academics and students interested in exploring and understanding the complexities of the past. In this loosely themed edition, we bring together a diversity of articles that reflect to some degree the richness and breadth of contemporary historical research. The selected works address a variety of topics, periods, and methodological approaches, demonstrating both the dynamism and vitality of our discipline. Consequently, we have selected as the cover of this issue part of the graphic work of Leopoldo Méndez, Mexican plastic artist and printmaker. The image that adorns our cover was obtained from the book Melodic Incidents of the Irrational World published in 1944 by Casa de las Américas, part of a collection of personal books that I treasure with pride. Cabada and Méndez created a beautiful work of fable inspired by the oral Mayan tradition that can be read the text, observed its images and listened to with knowledge of musical notations of songs in Mayan. At Escripta editorial team we do not hesitate to integrate part of the graphic work of Leopoldo Méndez, framed with a Sonoran desert landscape and home of the Seris, worthy of contemporary studies on the history of Mexico, which combines historical imagination, culture, tradition and rescue of new interpretations of our past.
