Abstract

Introduction: Nursing theories constitute the scientific foundation of the discipline, guiding professional practice, education, and research. Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring conceptualizes caring as a transpersonal relationship between the nurse and the patient, transcending the clinical encounter to promote person-centered, humanistic care. Objective: To analyze Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring. Methods: An analysis of Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring was conducted following the six-step approach proposed by Walker and Avant. Results: The analysis identified that the theory's concepts, metaparadigm, and Caritas Processes strengthen the understanding of caring as the essence of nursing, demonstrating its continued relevance and applicability to clinical practice, nursing education, and research. Conclusions: This analysis concluded that the conceptual framework and the theory support nursing practice focused on human caring through a holistic, person-centered approach. Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring continues to serve as a guiding framework for nursing practice.
