Proposal of a Web Application to Support Self-Study in University Students: A Focus on Time Management and Study Habits

This article proposes the conceptual design of EduSelf, a web application aimed at strengthening self-study practices among university students through the integration of time management tools, academic progress tracking, and artificial intelligence-assisted self-assessment. The proposal addresses the difficulties documented in the literature regarding planning, self-regulation, and academic time management in higher education. Grounded in self-regulated learning theory, the Pomodoro technique, and user-centered design principles, the application integrates four main modules: an academic agenda with intelligent reminders, a configurable study timer, an automatic exam generator with immediate feedback, and a progress visualization dashboard. The system architecture is planned using the Model-View-Controller pattern, with React.js, Node.js, and PostgreSQL as the core technology stack. Future work includes the development of a functional prototype and its evaluation through a quasi-experimental study measuring its impact on self-regulation and academic performance indicators.
