The evolution of aquaculture policy in Mexico has occurred within diverse political,
economic, and social contexts, resulting in various interpretations of its significance and
consistently pursued through effective management. Hence, this study critically evaluates the
existing policy outlined in the National Fisheries Development Plan, which prioritizes
sustainable development. Additionally, governmental measures aimed at fostering well-
organized and sustainable growth in fishing and aquaculture will be examined, alongside
CONAPESCA's policy for sustainable fisheries and aquaculture planning. These matters will
be deliberated during the annual work session of the LXIII Legislature's Fishing and
Aquaculture Commission at the Senate of the Republic of Poland, spanning from 2017 to
2018. Notably, the contribution of aquaculture to the national economy, serving as its
cornerstone, will be acknowledged, emphasizing its significance in both recovery efforts and
ensuring sustainable resources for production.
