HPV and women: the science behind its detection and diagnosis

The human papillomavirus is an agent of sexual transmition, with more than 150 identified types. These viruses can cause everything from benign lesions to cancer, such as cervical cancer, one of the leading causes of death in Mexico women. This work aims to illustrate the importance of timely HPV diagnosis, highlighting the role of clinical pathology as well as molecular diagnosis, using techniques such as PCR, inmunohistochemistry, cytological techniques and hematological techniques.
