2025 international symposium on fish parasites in Mérida: a space for science and international collaboration

Scientific conferences are invaluable platforms for professional and academic development, as well as for training students in new skills. The exchange of ideas among individuals who share common interests but possess diverse perspectives and approaches enriches collective knowledge, fosters innovation, and promotes collaboration among peers. The 11th International Symposium on Fish Parasites was held in Mérida, Yucatán, under the theme “Health, Biodiversity, and Conservation.” The event featured 131 oral presentations and 122 posters, prepared by more than 175 academics and students from 33 countries. This scientific forum provided an exceptional experience not only in the academic realm but also in the cultural and gastronomic spheres, with Mexico as the host country warmly welcoming all participants. The participation of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa, through its Faculty of Marine Sciences—recognized as a leader in aquatic parasitology—was particularly noteworthy.
