Brackish-water invertebrates in artificial collectors in Cospita bay, Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico

The coastal area of the northwestern Mexico has been characterized by an important spiny lobster (Panulirus) fishery, although its main area of settlement or refuge for lobster juvenil are unknown. The objective was to determine the associated fauna of brackish-water invertebrates in artificial shelters (Sanddwich type) as collectors of spiny lobster juvenil in Cospita Bay, Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico. Monthly sampling was carried out in two areas of the bay (Hawei and Ostionera Zone) between March 2017 and February 2018. The species were deposited in the reference collection of the Lobster Laboratory (FACIMAR-UAS). In total 5552 organisms were collected and the faunal composition corresponded to four phyla (Annelida, Mollusca, Arthropoda and Echinodermata), seven classes, 40 families, 55 genera and 65 species. The most represetative families of mollusks were Calyptraeidae (12 species) and Calliostomatidae (five species), of Crustaceans Panopeidae (four species) and least reprentative were the annelids with one family Nereididae (one specie). The most common genus was Crepidula with 10 species. Crustaceans were more frequent among collectors but greatest diversity of species was mollusks.
