Comparative analysis of the Hidalgo agricultural sector-Tabasco: national, sectorial and competitive

The Shift-Share technique has been one of the most widespread methods when analyzing the growth of employment or income in a certain region. Despite its high popularity, which is evident from the many applications that have been made for decades, it has been the subject of many criticisms. One of the most criticized aspects of Shift-Share has been the asymmetry present in its approaches that can cause a certain degree of variability in the results obtained. Therefore, the present study of the agricultural sector is based on a regional analysis on the evolution and behavior of According to the shift-share technique, combined with a graphic analysis, which allows to explain the structural and competitive part of the sector according to the level of specialization of the region. The present work shows the results of an estimation made for the Mexican economy in the period from 2003 to 2015, it is observed that the agricultural sector has a positive role in economic growth, however, it does not have the same significance as the local investment, both private and public.
