The managerial capacities and the creation of competitive advantage in the SMEs of the northeast of Mexico

The objective of this study is to identify the business capacities that generate competitive advantage in the SMEs of the northeast of Mexico. As a result of the analysis of previous empirical studies, it leads to a proposal that business capabilities favor organizations achieve better organizational performance. For this, the analysis unit was composed by SMEs from the state of Tamaulipas in northeastern Mexico, using a data collection instrument based on that of De la Cruz Gómez (2008), a sample of 290 small and medium enterprises, for the treatment of data, techniques such as factor analysis, regression analysis, and Pearson correlation are used; the results confirmed that the dimension of human resources is the entrepreneurial capacity that has a positive effect on the organizational performance of SMEs in Tamaulipas.
