Dr. Edén Bojórquez Mora is a Professor at the Facultad de Ingeniería of the Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa (UAS) and founder of the Revista Ingeniería y Tecnología UAS (RIT-UAS), where he has served as Editor-in-Chief since its establishment in 2018.
He holds a Ph.D. in Engineering from the Instituto de Ingeniería of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and completed postdoctoral studies at the Università degli Studi di Napoli, Italy. His academic and scientific career has been distinguished by significant contributions to the fields of structural and earthquake engineering, particularly through the development of methodologies aimed at the assessment and mitigation of seismic risk affecting infrastructure.
Throughout his career, he has received several national awards in recognition of his scientific and technological contributions, including the Premio Nacional de Investigación granted by the Sociedad Mexicana de Ingeniería Estructural, the Premio Nacional a la Mejor Tesis de Doctorado awarded by the Sociedad Mexicana de Ingeniería Sísmica (SMIS), recognition as Ingeniero Civil del Año by the Colegio de Ingenieros Civiles del Estado de Sinaloa, and the Premio Miguel A. Urquijo granted by the Colegio de Ingenieros Civiles de México (CICM) for the best scientific paper. He also received the Best Scientific Paper Award from the Revista de Ingeniería Sísmica as sole author.
Dr. Bojórquez Mora is a Member of the Academia de Ingeniería de México and has held important leadership positions within the national scientific community, notably serving as Vice President of the Sociedad Mexicana de Ingeniería Sísmica. He is also a member of the Comité de Resiliencia de la Infraestructura of the Colegio de Ingenieros Civiles de México and serves on the commission responsible for the review and improvement of the Normas Técnicas Complementarias para Diseño por Sismo of the Reglamento de Construcciones de la Ciudad de México, contributing to the development of strategies aimed at enhancing the safety, resilience, and seismic performance of infrastructure.
His editorial experience includes the leadership of highly regarded scientific publications. He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Revista de Ingeniería Sísmica, a journal recognized by the Secretaría de Ciencia, Humanidades, Tecnología e Innovación (SECIHTI). In addition, he participates as editor and editorial board member of several national and international scientific and outreach journals (indexed in JCR and published by publishers such as Springer, Wiley, etc.). This experience has significantly contributed to strengthening the editorial processes of the Revista Ingeniería y Tecnología UAS through the adoption of international standards of quality, transparency, academic integrity, and publication ethics.
In the field of research, he has participated in more than thirty regional, national, and international research projects, primarily as principal investigator or technical leader. His scientific contributions have been widely recognized by the academic community due to their innovative approach to the assessment of structural seismic behavior and the reduction of risks associated with natural hazards.
His research has enabled the development of new methodologies for seismic ground-motion characterization and structural performance assessment. In particular, he is recognized as a pioneer in the development of seismic intensity measures at the international level and is the only Mexican researcher to have proposed a generalized seismic intensity measure, a contribution that has significantly advanced international knowledge in earthquake engineering, seismic hazard assessment, and structural resilience.
In addition to his scientific activities, Dr. Bojórquez Mora has built an outstanding record in the education and mentoring of highly qualified human resources. He has supervised undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students, several of whom have joined Mexico’s Sistema Nacional de Investigadoras e Investigadores (SNII). His academic activities include delivering keynote lectures, specialized seminars, courses, and workshops by invitation at numerous national and international scientific forums, actively participating in conferences, universities, research centers, and professional associations of recognized prestige.
His international academic recognition has enabled him to serve as a Visiting Professor at the Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II, Italy, as well as at various national and international higher education institutions and research centers, fostering scientific collaboration, academic mobility, and the training of new generations of researchers in engineering.
As Editor-in-Chief of the Revista Ingeniería y Tecnología UAS, Dr. Edén Bojórquez Mora is committed to consolidating a high-quality scientific publication that promotes the dissemination of original, high-impact research, strengthens international collaboration, adopts best editorial practices, and generates knowledge that contributes to the scientific, technological, and social development of Mexico and the world.
