Introduction: In the current context, chronic degenerative diseases have shown significant progression, characterized by their long-term persistence and slow, invariable progression. Within this group of pathologies, rheumatological diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, ankylosing spondylitis, and Sjögren's syndrome, among others, stand out for their impact on the physical and mental functioning of affected individuals. Objective: To examine the mental health of patients with rheumatological diseases. Development: The emotional impact of chronic diseases on patients is undeniable. This impact arises from the uncertainty and unpredictability of disease progression, the associated suffering, emotional distress, loss of autonomy, and social stigma related to physical deterioration. These factors cause profound changes in the person, affecting their body, mind, and spirit. Conclusion: It is crucial to recognize that these types of pathologies demand a comprehensive approach from a biopsychosocial perspective. The lack of adequate treatment can result in a severely compromised life prognosis.
