The night watch: between the hospital and uncertainty

Authors

Abstract

Culiacán, Sinaloa; September 2024, insecurity due to drug trafficking takes over the city. Nights in the hospital have always had something special, where the tranquility in the hallways contrasts with the intensity of the cases that arrive at the emergency room. But in Culiacán, lately, that tranquility is absent. The real concern is not inside the hospital, but outside, in the dark streets, where violence envelops us without warning. It was the beginning of another night shift, the stress did not start when I arrived at the hospital. It arose much earlier, while I was preparing in my room.
