Enfoque y Alcance

Objectives: Revista Ciencias del Mar UAS (CIMAR UAS) primarily aims to disseminate and preserve original, unpublished, and high-impact scientific research that contributes to the advancement of global knowledge in aquatic sciences, serving as a bridge between academic research and the sustainable management of natural resources.

Disciplinary Field: The journal specializes in the multidisciplinary study of marine, coastal, and freshwater ecosystems. Its thematic coverage encompasses the following areas: Marine Biology and Ecology (biodiversity and conservation); Aquaculture (production systems, nutrition, and health); Oceanography and Limnology (physical, chemical, and geological processes); Coastal and Estuarine Ecology (coastal zone and mangrove management); Fisheries (resource assessment and fisheries socioeconomics); and Aquatic Pollution and Toxicology (water quality and contaminant impacts).

Target Audience: This publication is aimed at an international and diverse audience comprising researchers, academics, aquaculture-fisheries professionals, environmental managers, public decision-makers, and undergraduate and graduate students in disciplines related to marine sciences.

Sections and Types of Accepted Contributions: The journal accepts original manuscripts in Spanish or English, which undergo a Double-Blind Peer Review system and anti-plagiarism screening (Turnitin). The active sections are:

  1. Research Article: Empirical, methodological, or theoretical research papers presenting definitive, novel, and significant results. (Length: Maximum of 25 pages).
  2. Short Communication: Brief technical or descriptive scientific reports exposing relevant preliminary results, first records of species, or timely findings of immediate significance. (Length: Maximum of 10 pages).
  3. Review Article: Critical, comprehensive, and interpretative analyses that systematize recent scientific literature on frontier topics in marine sciences. (Length: Maximum of 35 pages).

Publication Frequency: CIMAR UAS is a quarterly publication. Issues are published regularly and punctually during the first days of March, June, September, and December of each year. The submission desk remains permanently open throughout the year.

Open Access and APC Policy: This journal operates under the Diamond Open Access model. All content is freely and immediately available for reading, downloading, and distribution under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0). The journal does not apply any charges for article submission (ASC) or article processing and publication (APC).
