Rural tourism was born as a key strategy for the economic development of communities around the world, allowing the diversification of productive activities and the generation of job opportunities. However, the success and sustainability of this activity depends largely on the management of human talent. This article aims to analyze the role of human talent in rural tourism and its contribution to economic development, based on a review of the literature. To do so, academic articles, government reports and case studies were reviewed, both internationally and in Mexico. The information was collected in databases such as Scielo, Google Scholar and Redalyc, using keywords such as "human talent", "rural tourism" and "local economic development". The international and Mexican context is addressed. Likewise, the opportunities and challenges faced by rural communities are identified. The results reveal that ongoing training and the development of specific skills in areas such as hospitality, business management and marketing are essential to improve the quality of tourism services, increase competitiveness and ensure the sustainability of rural tourism.
This study provides a comprehensive perspective on the importance of human talent in rural tourism and its role in the transformation of local economies. It also lays the groundwork for future research exploring the impact of training programs on talent retention and improving the competitiveness of the sector in communities with high tourism potential.
