Abstract

Vibrio sinaloensis strain is a mesophilic pathogen that proliferates in marine, brackish and freshwater aquatic environments. In recent years, resistance to environments contaminated by heavy metals has been studied, biosorption being the ability of bacteria to use metals as part of their metabolism. In this study, the genome of Vibrio sinaloensis strain DSM 21326 was analyzed to identify genes related to copper biosorption. The ATPase CopA (CIA) gene present in other organisms such as E. coli and P. syringae was found to be related to copper regulation, and was compared with phylogenetically close strains that possess this gene. Based on the results found, it is concluded that this strain can be used as a bioremediator of ecosystems contaminated with copper.
